Overview
A group of diseases caused by the xylem-limited bacterium Xylella fastidiosa, including Pierce's disease of grape, olive quick decline, citrus variegated chlorosis, and bacterial leaf scorch of many trees.
Symptoms
Leaf scorch progressing from margins inward. Drying and shriveling of fruit (raisining in grapes). Dieback of branches. Stunted growth. Eventual plant death (Pierce's disease kills grapevines in 1-5 years).

Control sharpshooter leafhopper and spittlebug vectors. Plant resistant varieties. Remove infected plants. Maintain buffer zones. Use certified disease-free nursery stock.
