Kimmei

    Bamboo(Bambusa)

    Visual Characteristics

Golden-yellow culms with narrow green vertical stripes and swollen, bulging lower internodes when container-grown or stressed; leaves finely striped with green and pale yellow-white.

    Growing Tips

Best where winter lows stay above about 21F (roughly USDA zone 9); some survive into the high teens with protection. The Buddha-belly swelling appears reliably in pots and under dry or crowded conditions, but plants in rich open ground tend to produce straight, non-bellied culms that can reach 30-40+ ft.

    Resistance Information

    Disease Resistance

No notable disease problems reported; a robust ornamental.
