Wamin

    Bamboo(Bambusa)

    Visual Characteristics

Dark, shiny green culms (to about 3 in wide) with dramatically shortened and inflated lower internodes giving a pot-bellied, sculptural appearance; a striped form ('Wamin Striata') shows light-green-on-dark-green striping.

    Growing Tips

A tender tropical/subtropical clumper best in warm near-frost-free climates (roughly USDA zone 9b-11; hardy to about 28F); protect from hard frost. Full sun encourages the strongest belly formation; deep shade causes canes to stretch and lose the belly effect. Typically 8-15 ft tall.
