    Black Pepper(Piper nigrum)

    The world's first hybrid black pepper variety, developed at the Pepper Research Station, Panniyur (Kerala Agricultural University) as a cross of Uthirankotta x Cheriyakaniakadan. It is high yielding and also suitable for white pepper production.

    Flavor Profile

    Pungent; piperine around 5.3% and oleoresin around 11.8%; also valued for white pepper production.

    Visual Characteristics

    Vigorous vine producing long spikes with well-set bold berries; dry recovery about 35%.

    Growing Tips

    Best grown in the open or lightly shaded, low-elevation areas rather than heavy shade; average dry yield about 1,242 kg/ha.
