Jersey is a late-season northern highbush blueberry released in New Jersey in 1928 and one of the oldest cultivars still in wide commercial and home use. The tall, vigorous, upright bushes are extremely hardy and adaptable, tolerating a range of soils and climates with little fuss. Jersey produces heavy crops of small to medium, sweet, light blue berries that are excellent for baking and freezing. Its dependability, cold hardiness and consistent yields have kept it in production for nearly a century, and it is often used as a reliable pollinizer for other late varieties. Jersey is also valued for the brilliant red and orange fall color of its foliage, adding ornamental value to the edible landscape.
