Breadfruit(Artocarpus altilis)
A seeded cultivar originally from Rotuma, Fiji, collected in Vailima, Samoa from the South Pacific Commission breadfruit collection and maintained in the NTBG Breadfruit Institute collection. It has been distributed globally since 2010 and is distinct in its starch and fiber profile among South Pacific cultivars.
Flavor Profile
Tender and moist when mature, developing a pleasant sweetness when fully ripe.
Visual Characteristics
Seeded fruit averaging about 1,832 g (~17 cm long by 16 cm wide) with tender, moist, creamy-to-yellow flesh; relatively low edible portion (around 70%) because of the seeds.
