    Butterfly pea(Clitoria ternatea)

A Thai butterfly pea cultivar developed by selective breeding at the Phichit Agricultural Research and Development Center, Thailand, to increase petal yield per plant and serve as an improved source of natural blue food colorant. It is documented in the scientific literature as the plant material for cyclotide studies.

    Visual Characteristics

Selected for large petals rich in anthocyanins, giving intensely blue flowers; reported to contain markedly more ternatin (the characteristic blue anthocyanin) than standard butterfly pea petals.
