    Chamomile(Matricaria chamomilla)

A diploid German chamomile cultivar bred in Slovakia and registered in 1984 (the first Slovak chamomile variety, from R. Honcariv's breeding program at Kosice). It is a bisabolol-type diploid grown for pharmaceutical-quality flowers at moderate alpha-bisabolol levels (~38-40%); it is often used as a reference/control cultivar in breeding trials.

    Flavor Profile

Characteristic sweet, apple-like chamomile scent; selected primarily for medicinal oil quality rather than culinary use.

    Visual Characteristics

White ray florets with a yellow disc typical of the species, on diploid plants roughly 0.7 m (about 28 inches) tall in comparative trials, with relatively small anthodia and lower flower yield than the tetraploid Slovak types.

    Growing Tips

Suited to temperate-climate field cultivation for medicinal flower and oil production; grow in full sun with well-drained soil.
