Zloty Lan
Chamomile(Matricaria chamomilla)
A vigorous tetraploid German chamomile bred in Poland ('Zloty Lan' means 'golden field') for high essential-oil and chamazulene content. It is a medicinally potent commercial cultivar valued for larger flowers and strong yields.
Flavor Profile
Sweet, apple-like aroma typical of chamomile tea, with the higher oil content giving a more intense fragrance.
Visual Characteristics
Larger-than-typical white-and-yellow daisy flowers on robust, upright plants with ferny foliage, commonly around 1.5 feet (45 cm) but up to about 2 feet (60 cm) tall; as a tetraploid it is more robust and vigorous than diploid types.
Growing Tips
Sow seed on the surface (needs light to germinate) in full sun; space about 12 inches apart. Bred for commercial flower harvest and high essential-oil yield rich in chamazulene.
