AU Sunrise
Clover(Trifolium)
An early-maturity crimson clover (Trifolium incarnatum) cultivar developed cooperatively by the USDA-NRCS and Auburn University (Alabama Agricultural Experiment Station) and released in 1997, valued for forage, cover cropping, pollinator habitat, and wildlife food plots.
Visual Characteristics
Erect winter annual with an open canopy and crimson-red conical flower heads; stems covered in white, short, fine hairs; noticeably early-blooming.
Growing Tips
Flowers about 12 to 28 days earlier than 'Tibbee' (and 5 to 18 days earlier than 'AU Robin'), supporting earlier reseeding and earlier cover-crop termination; good forage yield potential and strong value for pollinators and conservation tillage systems.
