    Coffee(Coffee)

    A foundational Coffea arabica variety carried by French missionaries from Yemen to Bourbon Island (La Reunion) in the early 1700s, and one of the most culturally and genetically important arabicas in the world. It is the genetic ancestor of many modern cultivars including Caturra, Catuai, and Mundo Novo.

    Flavor Profile

    Very good cup quality at the highest altitudes; sweet and complex with well-rounded acidity and a medium body.

    Tall-growing plant with green leaf tips and average-sized beans.

    Growing Tips

    Best at high elevation (>1,300m at 5-15 degrees latitude; >1,000m at higher latitudes). Medium yield and medium nutrition needs; first production in year 4. Plant at 3,000-4,000 plants/ha with single-stem pruning.

    Disease Resistance

    Poor; low resistance / susceptible to coffee leaf rust, and susceptible to coffee berry disease and nematodes.
