    Coffee(Coffee)

    A vigorous Coffea arabica variety arising from a natural cross between Bourbon and Typica, discovered in Brazil in 1943 and selected by the Instituto Agronomico de Campinas. Widely grown in South America, it was a parent of the popular Catuai variety.

    Good cup quality with medium yield potential.

    Visual Characteristics

    Very tall, vigorous stature with green or bronze leaf tips and average-sized beans.

    Growing Tips

    Best at high elevation (>1,600m in equatorial regions; >1,300m at 5-15 degrees latitude). High fertilizer requirements; first production in year 3. Plant at 3,000-4,000 plants/ha with single-stem pruning.

    Poor; low resistance / susceptible to coffee leaf rust, coffee berry disease, and nematodes.
