Coffee(Coffee)
One of the two foundational Coffea arabica varieties (with Bourbon) from which countless modern cultivars descend, originating in southwestern Ethiopia and spread globally via Yemen, India, and Java. Also known as Criollo, it is prized for high cup quality but has been widely replaced due to very low yields and disease susceptibility.

Clean, sweet, well-balanced cup with complex acidity and subtle fruit and floral notes; high quality potential especially at high altitude.

Tall stature with distinctive bronze leaf tips and large beans; noted for good adaptation to cooler conditions.
Growing Tips
Grow at high altitude for best quality. Very low yield potential with first production in year 4. Medium nutrition requirements; plant at 3,000-4,000 plants/ha with single-stem pruning.

Poor; low resistance / high susceptibility to coffee leaf rust, and susceptible to coffee berry disease and nematodes.
