Silver Queen is one of the most famous white sweet corn hybrids in the United States, an F1 sugary-enhanced-era standard (su) variety long prized for its flavor and eating quality. It produces tall, vigorous stalks bearing large ears eight to nine inches long packed with sweet, tender white kernels in fourteen to sixteen rows. Silver Queen matures late, around 88 to 92 days, and offers good tolerance to several common corn diseases including bacterial wilt and some leaf blights. Because it is a standard sugary type, its sugars convert to starch after harvest, so it is best enjoyed fresh from the garden. Its combination of refined flavor, disease tolerance, and dependable performance has made it a benchmark white sweet corn for home gardens and roadside markets in the South and East.
