Visual Characteristics
Plant ~2-3.5 ft tall (to ~40 in.) with dark green lanceolate leaves; daisy-like flowers with intense carmine-red to magenta-red rays held horizontally around a large, dark bronze-brown cone.
Growing Tips
Full sun and average, dry-to-medium, well-drained soil. Long bloom June to August; excellent for massing in borders, meadows and native/wildflower gardens.

Occasional Japanese beetle and leaf spot; susceptible to aster yellows disease. Tolerant of drought, heat, humidity, clay and poor soils.
