Borogu
Kava(Piper methysticum)
A noble kava cultivar from Pentecost Island, Vanuatu, and one of the most widely cultivated and exported kava cultivars in the world. It is a standard variety served in many ni-Vanuatu nakamals (kava bars) and is prized for consistent, balanced effects.
Flavor Profile
Earthy, peppery, full-bodied; described as balanced with heady (mood-lifting, mentally relaxing) effects at lower doses and heavier physical relaxation/sedation at higher doses.
Visual Characteristics
Noble Piper methysticum with erect green stems and knobby, swollen internodes; harvested for its large fibrous rootstock.
Growing Tips
A perennial grown in Vanuatu's humid tropical lowlands; like most kava it is propagated from stem cuttings and typically harvested around 3-5 years of age when kavalactone content in the roots peaks.
