Melomelo
Kava(Piper methysticum)
A noble kava cultivar originating on Aoba (Ambae) Island, Vanuatu, where in the north of Pentecost Island it is also known as 'Sese.' It is one of Vanuatu's most common noble drinking cultivars and is also documented as the single noble cultivar of the Solomon Islands.
Flavor Profile
Milder and lighter-bodied than Borogu, with a smooth, gently sweet taste and uplifting, kavain-forward effects; kava bars often blend it with stronger varieties to soften flavor while retaining potency.
Visual Characteristics
Noble Piper methysticum with green stems; cultivated for its rootstock like other Vanuatu nobles.
Growing Tips
Grown in the tropical islands of Vanuatu (Ambae) and also documented in the Solomon Islands; propagated by stem cuttings and harvested after several years of growth (typically 3-5 years).
