    Flavor Profile

    Foliage releases a strong lemon fragrance when crushed; used the same as common lemon balm in teas and cooking.

    Visual Characteristics

    Bushy herbaceous perennial to about 30 cm tall with square stems and toothed, wrinkled dark green leaves heavily splashed yellow at the margins; leafy whorled spikes of pale lilac-tinted white flowers in summer.

    Growing Tips

    Grow in full sun in well-drained soil. Cut back in early summer to encourage a fresh flush of vibrantly colored growth. Propagate by division or softwood cuttings, as it will not retain its variegation from seed.
