    Marshmallow(Althea Officinalis)

    A shorter-growing named selection of common marsh mallow (about 80 cm), more manageable in height than the wild species, grown chiefly as a garden perennial for its soft foliage and pink summer flowers.

    Visual Characteristics

    Reaches roughly 80 cm (about 2.6 ft), shorter than the wild species; velvety grey, downy leaves and pale pink saucer-shaped flowers borne in the upper leaf axils from mid to late summer.

    Growing Tips

    Grow in moist but well-drained soil in full sun; hardy and suited to borders, gravel gardens and coastal or damp sites. Cut back after flowering.
