    Sunrise Solo

    Papaya(Carica papaya)

    Early season

Sunrise Solo is a widely grown red-fleshed Solo-type papaya famous for its sweet, richly colored flesh. Developed in Hawaii, it produces small to medium pear-shaped fruit of about one to one and a half pounds with smooth reddish-orange flesh and excellent dessert quality. It is one of the standard commercial red Solo papayas and a benchmark for flavor and appearance. Sunrise Solo plants include self-fruitful hermaphrodites, allowing single-tree production. The fruit is prized for fresh eating and its attractive color. Fast-growing and quick to bear in tropical and frost-free subtropical climates, Sunrise Solo is a popular home and market papaya well suited to warm-climate permaculture food forests.
