Granada is an early-ripening pomegranate that arose as a bud sport of Wonderful, discovered in Lindsay, California, and introduced in the 1960s. It ripens roughly a month earlier than its parent and colors up beautifully, with the fruit and arils taking on a deep crimson well before Wonderful. The flavor is less tart and somewhat sweeter than Wonderful, though the fruit is a bit smaller. Because of its early ripening and attractive color, Granada was historically important commercially for capturing the early market. It remains a good choice where earlier harvest or better color development is desired.
Flavor Profile

Visual Characteristics
