Veperikon

    St. John's Wort(Hypericum perforatum)

An improved commercial cultivar of Hypericum perforatum included, alongside 'Gold', in an ex situ evaluation against a wild Iranian population. In that study it proved highly susceptible to the fungal pathogen Colletotrichum gloeosporioides.

    Visual Characteristics

Displays the improved cultivated St. John's Wort habit with yellow, black-glanded five-petaled flowers typical of the species.

    Growing Tips

Selected for enhanced secondary-metabolite production, but its high fungal susceptibility makes it poorly suited where anthracnose pressure is present.

    Resistance Information

    Disease Resistance

Highly susceptible to Colletotrichum gloeosporioides (anthracnose); in the Iranian trial all transplanted seedlings were infected and the cultivar did not persist.
