A Florida-selected carambola that is tart when picked early but becomes sweet when allowed to fully ripen; historically important and used for both fresh eating and processing.
Flavor Profile
Tart unless picked fully ripe, at which point it becomes sweet.

Growing Tips
Self-fertile; Golden Star seedlings appear better adapted to high-pH (alkaline) soils, making them useful as rootstock or in limestone soils.
