    Clump-forming perennial grass, late-flowering with a purple inflorescence and long fibrous roots distilled for oil

    Growing Tips

    Adaptable to a wide range of soils including alkaline, waterlogged, dry and poor soils; reported to yield about 2.8 t (28 q/ha) dry roots and roughly 34 kg/ha essential oil, making it useful for reclaiming difficult land.
