Vernon

    White Sapote(Casimiroa edulis)

A genuine cultivar from Vista, California (Wells Miller, 1953), found as a mature tree and possibly an even older selection. A large, rounded, vigorous but medium-height tree that performs well in northern California but is difficult to graft.

    Flavor Profile

Mild and sweet; the white flesh does not become bitter even when over-ripe.

    Visual Characteristics

Green, round to oblate fruit with white flesh, borne on a large, rounded tree.

    Growing Tips

Shows alternate bearing concentrated in the winter months; because the flesh resists bitterness when over-ripe, harvest timing is forgiving. Reportedly difficult to graft.
