Cerise Queen

    Yarrow(Achillea millefolium)

One of the oldest and most popular yarrow cultivars, bearing wide, flat clusters of vivid cerise-pink (magenta) florets with paler white disc centers on vigorous, mat-forming plants. A reliable, long-blooming border and cut-flower selection that holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit and is recognized under the RHS Plants for Pollinators program.

    Flavor Profile

Foliage is aromatic with the characteristic sharp, herbaceous, slightly medicinal yarrow scent when crushed.

    Visual Characteristics

Feathery, dark green, semi-evergreen fern-like foliage; flat-topped corymbs of magenta-pink flowers with tiny white disc florets, fading to softer smoky shades with age. Reaches roughly 50-70 cm tall.

    Growing Tips

Grow in full sun in well-drained soil; drought-tolerant once established and flowers more freely in lean, dry soil. Deadhead to prolong bloom and cut back after flowering. Divide clumps every few years to maintain vigor. Hardy roughly USDA zones 2-9.

    Resistance Information

    Disease Resistance

Prone to the same issues as the species (powdery mildew, rust and stem rot in humid or wet conditions); dislikes heavy, wet winter clay.
