Summer Pastels
Yarrow(Achillea millefolium)
A popular seed-grown strain producing a broad mix of soft pastel flower colors on uniform, compact plants. An All-America Selections (1990) and Fleuroselect award winner prized for heat and drought tolerance and its wide color range from a single sowing.
Flavor Profile
Deep green ferny foliage is fragrant with the classic yarrow aroma.
Visual Characteristics
Fine-textured, deep green ferny foliage forming low mounds; flat corymbs in white, cream, yellow, pink, salmon, mauve, purple and red. Grows about 45-70 cm (roughly 18-24 in) tall.
Growing Tips
Sow seed indoors 8-10 weeks before last frost, barely covering seed; blooms the first year from an early sowing. Grow in full sun in poor to average, well-drained soil. Deadhead for rebloom; can spread, so divide in fall or early spring. Hardy USDA zones 2-9.
Resistance Information
Disease Resistance
Bred for garden vigor and tolerance of heat, drought and poor soil; foliage is comparatively disease-resistant, though standard yarrow foliar diseases are possible in humid conditions.
