Rayong 5

    Cassava(Manihot esculenta)

    A high-yielding Thai cassava cultivar registered in 1994 by the Department of Agriculture, developed at the Rayong Field Crops Research Center from a cross of CMR 27-77-10 (high-yield parent) and Rayong 3 (high-starch parent). Regarded as one of Thailand's benchmark industrial varieties.

    Vigorous germination and plant growth; produces high root yields with high starch content.

    Growing Tips

    Noted for high root yield, high starch content, vigorous germination even in dry conditions, and wide environmental adaptability across Thai growing conditions; it out-yielded the then-dominant Rayong 1 in fresh, starch, and dry-root yield in multi-location trials.
