West Coast Tall

Grown chiefly for oil and copra rather than sweet drinking water; nuts have high oil content (roughly 68-72% depending on source).

Tall palm reaching roughly 15-18 m (about 50-60 ft) with a long productive lifespan of 60-80 years; medium-to-large nuts averaging about 176 g of copra per nut.

Begins bearing about 6-10 years after planting; adapts to most soils, thrives in littoral sand, and tolerates moderate soil moisture stress. Yields around 80-100 nuts per palm per year, higher under good management.
