Inchelium Red is a softneck artichoke-type garlic discovered on the Colville Indian Reservation in Washington State and a repeat winner in garlic taste trials. As a softneck it produces no scape and stores longer than most hardnecks, often keeping six to nine months. Bulbs are large for a softneck, with multiple layers of cloves totaling eight to twenty per bulb, wrapped in soft white skins that can be braided. Inchelium Red is adaptable, performing well across many regions, and its soft, pliable neck makes it ideal for braiding. The flavor is mild to medium, becoming stronger and more lingering with storage. It is an excellent all-purpose softneck for gardeners wanting long storage, high clove counts, and consistent taste.
