    Flavor Profile

    Low acridity (not strongly bitter); corm is starchy and mild, considered the best variety for crispy taro chips; young leaves are tender and comparatively non-acrid for lu'au.

    Visual Characteristics

    Tall, well-spreading, stocky plant. Corm flesh is white with conspicuous purple fibers and cream-colored skin (occasionally purple along leaf-scar rings); petiole 75-110 cm long, dark green slightly tinged reddish-purple on the upper half with a conspicuously purple apex.

    Growing Tips

    Grown widely under both dryland (mala) and wetland (lo'i) culture; produces roughly 15-20 offshoots (oha) per plant and matures in about 9-12 months.
