    Flavor Profile

    Produces high-quality red poi and is the dominant commercial poi variety; smaller corms serve as a moist table taro.

    Visual Characteristics

    Tall, erect plant with potential to reach about 8 feet. Corm has chalky-white flesh with purple fibers and purple to purple-gray skin (3-10 lbs); light green petiole thinly edged red with a dark reddish-purple ring at the base; arrowhead (sagittate) leaf blade about 45-50 cm long.

    Growing Tips

    Thrives in wetland lo'i; matures in roughly 9-12 months and yields 2-5 secondary corms (oha). Favored for consistent large yields in monoculture systems; best pounded (ku'i) while hot.
