Forest Layers

When designing a productive ecosystem, permaculture teaches that we should seek to maximize all layers of the forest. Not only does having multiple layers of plants at various heights and depths help you maximize yield, but it also captures a larger amount of the available sunlight, which gets converted into root exudates to feed the living soil food web, injecting your ecosystem with life.
